My dad would always let me disasemble old stuff, espetially PC components. At the age of 12, I was proud owner of many HDD disks (mean the disk from the inside of the box) - so smooth and beautiful. Whey were so smooth that they sled whole school desk with not much speed. I also had many super-strong magnets from HDD drives. Later on, I applied these things in many ways. Wire from the diskete drive heads served me for wiring tiny things. I used capacitors from PC mainboards to sustain electric arcs. I also learned how to assemble a PC, hot to set HDD jumpers and all of this. Give old PCs to your kids.
